On Friday, the following notice was posted on Facebook by Benjamin Cutler, Public Affairs Manager at Columbia Gas. The notice pertains to work which will be underway shortly in the area southwest of OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital and Glessner Avenue.
It read: “Quick heads up that our contractor Global Energy Partners is set to begin Phase 2 of a pipeline replacement project in Mansfield. Crews are installing approximately 9,000 feet of new plastic pipe serving roughly 315 properties on sections of Glessner, Arlington, Parkview, Woodward, Forest, Sloane, Bartley, Barnard, Coleman, Marion, Cameo and Berlyn. Please see the project map attached along with the info packet those on the route will receive in the mail.
In terms of timing…
- Preconstruction work is underway. During this phase, residents may notice markers and flags cropping up in yards. Those are to mark the locations of underground facilities. Ask kindly that everyone keep in place until our work is complete.
- Installation of the new mainline should begin in early August.
- Once the mainline is in and put into service, crews will follow-up with service line replacements for individual homes/businesses. These take about 2-4 hours per property and include a brief service disconnection. Indoor meters will be relocated outside as well. Global personnel will reach out to schedule an appointment with each property owner for the shutoff, relight and meter relocation (if necessary).
Note: as of now, the scope of work on Arlington, Bartley, Forest, and Sloane will only include service line replacements. No new mainline is required on these streets barring anything unforeseen.
As for restoration, crews will temporarily restore all property to ensure safety and accessibility and then follow-up with the permanent grade restoration as the project nears completion.
As for traffic, please expect some congestion in our work zones, but flaggers will be on-hand to get all motorists through safely. Further, crews will not block residents in their driveways.
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or any other special circumstances we should be aware of. My contact info is included below. We’ve also scheduled a virtual Q&A Open House Monday, August 14th from 5:30-6:30 PM. Dial-in below.
