From: Mansfield Division of Police

The Mansfield Division of Police is actively investigating a shooting incident which occurred in the 500 block of Louise Avenue on Tuesday. Officers responded to this area at approximately 2:46 PM in reference to multiple people being shot. Upon arrival, officers and emergency personnel located two gunshot victims, a 71 year old black female and a 22 year old black male, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A third gunshot victim from the shooting, a 16 year old black male, was located a short time later at an area hospital.

The preliminary investigation has led detectives to believe that the three victime were in the area of the incident location when a dark colored vehicle approached. At that time, an unknown person or persons inside the vehicle opened fire, resulting in the three victims being struck. It is unknown how many total shots were fired during the incident or how many shooters actively fired shots as the scene is still being processed.

The two male victims are being treated for serious but what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The 71 year old female victim was in very serious condition at the time of transport to the hospital.

This investigation is ongoing and a motive for the shooting has not yet been established. Detectives and Forensic Science Section/Crime Lab personnel are at the scene and collecting evidence.
