On the morning of Feb. 24, the Shelby High School Cafeteria at 1 Whippet Way will be a feast for the senses — literally. The Richland County Farm Bureau is set to host its eagerly awaited Farmers Share Breakfast, an event that not only celebrates local agriculture but also fosters a deep sense of community among residents and farmers of Richland County.

Connecting Community with Agriculture

This special event, scheduled from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, is more than just a breakfast gathering. It’s a unique opportunity for the community to engage directly with the people who are at the heart of local agriculture. The Richland County Farm Bureau volunteers and local farmers will be in attendance, ready to mingle, share their stories, and engage in insightful table-top discussions.

The Farmers Share Breakfast is a chance to learn about the journey of food from farm to table. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with local farmers, gaining insights into the methods and care involved in food production. This interaction aims to enhance understanding and appreciation of the agricultural processes and the hard work that goes into feeding the community.

A Feast for a Cause

The menu promises a delightful start to the day with pancakes, fresh whole hog sausage, eggs, orange juice, milk, and coffee. In the spirit of giving, the breakfast is available for a free-will donation. The funds raised will be channeled to support food pantries in Richland County. This charitable aspect of the event honors the FFA chapters who assist in making it a success. Over the past 16 years, nearly $19,000 has been donated to area food banks and the Harmony House, showcasing the Farm Bureau’s commitment to not only agricultural excellence but also community welfare.
