Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development celebrated the grand reopening of Operation Fandom and Blackbird Records in Mansfield on Friday, marking a new chapter for the beloved store. Located at 36 West Fourth Street, the store offers a nostalgic journey through time with its vast selection of collectibles, cards, and gaming items from the 80s, 90s, and today. This new location promises to be a haven for enthusiasts of all things vintage and modern.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The festivities kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 AM which drew a crowd of eager fans and local dignitaries, all excited to see the new space and what it has to offer. Doors officially opened to the public at 11:00 AM, welcoming visitors to explore the revamped store.

Discover Blackbird Books & Curiosities Room

One of the highlights of the reopening is the unveiling of the new Blackbird Books & Curiosities Room. This addition enhances the store’s already extensive collection, offering thousands of used 33 and 45 records for sale from the historic Y105 Radio Collection, with prices ranging from $1 to $175. Additionally, over $10,000 worth of new sealed vinyl, including more than 100 unique pressings, has been added to the inventory.

Special Sales and Promotions

To celebrate the reopening, Operation Fandom and Blackbird Records are offering special sales on select items throughout the store. Extra collectibles inventory has been added, ensuring there’s something for every fan and collector. Visitors can also sign up for a chance to win a $100 shopping spree, with one winner drawn each day of the reopening weekend.

Live Music and Open Mic Night

The celebration continues into the weekend with live music and an open mic night on Saturday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Blackbird Records invites local musicians to text the number on the flyer to sign up and join the open mic schedule, providing a platform for community talent to shine. The store will be open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturday and from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, giving everyone plenty of time to join in the festivities and explore the new space.
