Earlier this month, Greater Ohio, the state’s Greater Ohio, the statewide think tank and advocacy center for statewide initiatives on revitalization and sustainable growth, shared a Twitter thread that looked ahead to a policy wish list for 2020.

Several of the items included would have a positive impact on the revitalization of places like Mansfield, which is one of Greater Ohio’s “smaller legacy cities.”

In Greater Ohio parlance, a smaller legacy city is one of 16 in Ohio which have long industrial histories, population loss, and current populations of 30,000 to 250,000. These cities are called “the backbone of Ohio.”

The organization’s Wish List for 2021 includes, among other things,

  • Strong funding for Ohio’s transit agencies
  • Enacement of the proposed REHAB tax credit on the national level
  • Enacement of the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act
  • Reforms to the Opportunity Zone program
