The Pearl Conard Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield will present “Labors: An Exhibition Exploring the Complexities of Motherhood,” curated by Kate Shannon, associate professor of art.

The exhibition is made possible through a Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women grant. These grants are designed to support research by The Ohio State University faculty and graduate students that explores women’s lives, gender equality, and gender broadly conceptualized.

“I am a visual artist and a new mother. As I begin to examine this life transition artistically, I am seeking out other artists who address motherhood in their work,” Shannon says. “Labors is an exhibition that explores the complexities of motherhood while giving other mother-artists a platform to share their joys, anxieties, and traumas.”

An opening reception will take place Monday, February 26 from 12:35 – 1:30 PM with an informal curator’s talk at the beginning.

The exhibition will run from Monday, February 26- Friday, March 23. However, it will be closed from March 12-16 for spring break.

Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 AM – 4 PM.; Friday, noon – 2 PM.
