Two Lexington High School graduates are continuing to lead the Ohio University women’s cross country team to an excellent season. Yesterday, they both finished in the top 15 in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, where to Bobcats placed second in the team standings.

Ohio women’s cross country returns from a successful weekend at the 2017 Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational (Sept. 15) where they placed second with an overall score of 55 points and a final team time of 1:50.28.

Florida State stole the show with a final team time of 1:47.26 and a total score of 25 points. Ohio finished in second place, ahead of Virginia Tech (87), Akron (99), East Tennessee State (156), Morehead State (180), Lynchburg (193), Washington and Lee (201), VMI (213), Roanoke (304), King (333), Hollins (386), Sweet Briar (402) and Ferrum (427).

All five scoring Bobcats scored in the top 20 led by a fourth-place finish from senior Ellen Isaac (Mansfield, Ohio). Isaac clocked in at 21:25.4, just 40.4 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

Junior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) was the next Bobcat to cross the line placing ninth at 21:57.4, just ahead of freshman Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) in 10th place with a final time of 22:07.4. Junior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) placed next in 13th with a time of 22:14.1, followed by sophomore Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio) who posted a 22:43.6 time.
