Unemployment rose a bit in north central Ohio in July, matching a trend across the state of Ohio.

When labor numbers were released this week by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Service’s Bureau of Labor Market Information, rates across the state ranged from Mercer County’s 3.5% to Trumbull County’s 8.7%.

Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 0.2% from June to July (from 5.0% to 5.2%), and remains higher than the national rate. Last July, Ohio had a 4.9% rate.

Local numbers released include the following:

July 2017 (Labor Force, Employed, Unemployed, Rate)

Ashland County — 25,800, 24,500, 1,400, 5.2% (up from 5.0%)

Crawford County — 19,300, 18,100, 1,200, 6.3% (unchanged)

Huron County — 28,400, 26,100, 2,300, 8.0% (up from 5.9%)

Knox County — 31,000, 29,400, 1,500, 5.0% (up from 4.8%)

Morrow County — 17,200, 16,400, 900, 5.0% (unchanged)

Richland County — 54,700, 51,400, 3,300, 6.0% (up from 5.6%)
