The Ohio Bird Sanctuary, located near Clear Fork Reservoir at 3774 Orweiler Road, is the site and/or host for many activities this weekend as a part of Mohican Wildlife Weekend and carrying forward its theme of “Ohio Pollinators.” Those include the following:

Saturday, April 29:

Birding Boat Tours on Clearfork Reservoir: 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 12 noon, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM. $10 person; limit of 9 per boat. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.

Photographing Birds of Prey: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. A variety of bird of prey species will be displayed in natural settings along the trails. Perfect for up close photographs.

Birds as Pollinators – Hummmm?: 12:00 noon. Learn about how our smallest winged marvels play a large role in the ecosystem. See this winged jewel up close. Program by presented by Jan Ferrell.

Building a Pollinator Garden: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Naturalists will be actively working in the Sanctuary’s butterfly garden. Interactive program. Come learn and assist. Children welcome.

Gourd Birdhouse Workshop: 2:00 PM. Make your own bird house from a gourd. These beautiful, natural houses can be stained or painted for avian use or a unique home decoration. $10/person material cost.

Birds of Prey Show: 7:00 PM. Enjoy an up close experience with a variety of Ohio’s bird species. A 30 minute presentation that is fun and educational. Mohican State Park Resort.

 Sunday, April 30:

Children Activities: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Build a hummingbird feeder, make a butterfly garden seed bomb, and many more nature crafts. Suitable for all ages. Some crafts have a nominal material fee.

Your Backyard Refrigerator: 2:00 PM. Learn how your yard can be a feast for native pollinators and birds. Program presented by Bill Flannigan.

Keeper Talks: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Meet and greet many of our education raptors and learn from their caretakers about their natural history and reasons they reside at the Sanctuary. Great opportunity for up close photography.
