A recent visit to Mansfield made quite an impression on blogger known as “Signe,” who writes and publishes the Say-n-Play Columbus blog.

For the last two years, the Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist has written about traveling to sites in and within driving distance of Columbus that promote various aspects of speech development for children.

To celebrate Spring Break this year, Signe chose to take her daughter on a day trip to north central Ohio, and particularly to visit the Little Buckeye Children’s Museum. In a review of their visit filled with pictures, she and her child explored many of the museum’s 28 exhbit areas.

Her comments included the following observation: “What is interesting about this museum is that there aren’t designated areas designed for specific age groups. While this would often deter me, because I am often worried about my little one being run over by older children, it was interesting to see the interactions between the different age groups in each exhibit. The exhibits are set up for open-ended play, so your child is able to experience the exhibits at her level and possibly learn new ways to play from the other children.”

Their visit concluded with a side trip to Richland Carrousel Park.
