Perhaps you have an interest in local history, or you might be a fan of writer Louis Bromfield and enjoy visiting sites associated with his books. Or its possible that you are an architecture enthusiast who appreciates unique experiences to visit outstanding examples of particular building styles.

If any of these are the case, come to Oak Hill Cottage this Sunday and you’ll be in luck!

The 1847 masterpiece, one of the finest extant Gothic Revival houses in the United States, has opened for the 2017 tour season. Regular visits are available between April and December from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoons. Tour cost is only $5 for adults, and $1 for children (12 and under).

The Oak Hill carriage house is also open during Sunday tour hours.

For a special treat, take a Basement to Attic Tour, now in their 7th year. According to the house’s website, these tours include a review of the Cottage grounds, the architecture of the house, and the era of original owner John L. Robinson. This tour includes rarely-seen spaces including the basement, summer kitchen, maid’s quarters, the “balcony room,” the attic, and a superb view of Mansfield from the porch roof.

Basement to Attic Tours are limited to 15 people and require stair climbing. Shoes, not flip-flops, must be worn. Tours will be scheduled for two or more people and can be held in the evening. Price is $12 per person; for families with children over 10 year old, the price is $8 per person. Member price is $6. To schedule, call 419.543.1619.
