Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted have announced the approval of assistance for 11 projects set to create 1,636 new jobs and retain 1,715 jobs statewide.

One of those projects involve a business expansion effort in Richland and Ashland Counties.

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $141 million in new payroll and spur more than $2.5 billion in investments across Ohio.

Ball, Bounce and Sport, Inc., city of Mansfield (Richland County), and city of Ashland (Ashland County) expects to create 35 full-time positions, generating $2.4 million in new annual payroll and retaining $2.7 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Mansfield and Ashland.

Ball, Bounce, and Sport is the logistics and distribution company for Hedstrom, headquartered in Ashland. Hedstrom is a 100-year-old company and one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of children’s toys and play and sports balls. The proposed project includes the expansion of their current facility for additional production and distribution. TCA approved a 1.346%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

The largest project given assistance is for Worldpay, LLC in Symmes Township, Hamilton County, which expects to create 529 full-time positions, generate $56.2 million in new annual payroll and retain $93 million in existing payroll. Worldpay is a financial technology group that equips businesses with a point of sale and online payment processing capabilities.
