Buckle up, friends. It’s 1812Blockhouse’s first holiday-themed post for 2023 — and what better place to begin than a center of happiness and merriment in downtown Mansfield?

Richland Carrousel Park is pulling out all the stops to make this year’s festivities unforgettable. On November 18, the park will host a Christmas Open House that promises to be a hit with the younger crowd. The first 50 kids to arrive will receive a special door prize, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. But that’s not all—Santa himself will be available for photos from 10 AM to 4 PM. For just $5, you’ll receive a printed copy of your photo, and you’re welcome to take as many additional photos as you’d like with your own camera.

Sip, Snack, and Shop

The park’s café will be open from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., offering a range of delicious treats including cookies, hot dogs, brats, and chips. And for those in need of a caffeine fix, free coffee will be available all day. While you’re there, don’t miss the big sale on gift items—perfect for ticking off names on your holiday shopping list.

Santa’s Scheduled Stops

Santa will be making several appearances at the park throughout the holiday season. Mark your calendars for the following dates: November 19, 25, 26, and December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23. However, Santa’s availability is subject to the needs of his elves back at the North Pole, so it’s always a good idea to check ahead.

Support and Celebrate

From November 13 to 28, the park is running a donation drive to garner community support. Contributions can be made through their Mightycause page. Additionally, the Festival of Trees will be taking place from November 18 to December 31. Local businesses have decorated trees, and visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite.

Special Days and Citywide Celebrations

The park has a packed schedule for the end of November and the entire month of December. It will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will reopen for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, offering 25% off all toys, clothing, and jewelry. December 2 marks the Christmas in the City event, featuring a tree lighting ceremony with the Mayor and city officials, live reindeer on the Carrousel lawn, and horse-drawn carriage rides starting at 4 p.m.

Come and experience the sights and sounds of the holidays at Richland Carrousel Park. It’s an old-fashioned good time that promises to make this holiday season in Mansfield truly magical.
