Did you know that on April 8, 2024, Richland County will be on the path for a total solar eclipse?

In our area, the full eclipse will last about 3 minutes and 18 seconds, starting at 3:12:15 PM.

A solar eclipse occurs when a portion of the Earth is engulfed in a shadow cast by the Moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight. This occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned.

There’s still plenty of time to get ready. To that end, this month several organizations in Delaware County, for instance, heeding a call by the Delaware County EMA, have begun to plan. Sitting on I-71 and just north of Columbus, officials there believe it possible that a large number of “eclipse tourists” from all over the world will be on hand.

So far, no news on the Richland County homefront.

Only 811 days to go! Read more about the eclipse here.
