Sectors of the local economy powerfully impacted by the pandemic are about to get some relief.

From January 1 through January 31, businesses in the areas of food & beverage, entertainment venue, and lodging & tourism can apply for funding in a new Richland County COVID-19 Grant program

Applications can be submitted for grants of $10,000, $20,000, or $30,000 depending on the impact of the pandemic on a given business. Grants will be given to those who qualify as long as funds remain.

These monies were received through section 9901 of the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (“ARPA”).

The Program has been created by Richland County and other community partners with the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development (the “Chamber”) in order to assist businesses in certain industry sectors throughout Richland County with the financial hardship imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and to help pay the costs of business interruption required by closures or those costs where businesses face uncertainty as to their ability to pay due to the pandemic.

“We are pleased to partner with Richland County to launch another round of grants especially aimed at the hardest hit industries,” said Jodie A. Perry, Chamber President & CEO. “The ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic have made it difficult for businesses in these sectors to bounce back. We appreciate the leadership of the Richland County Commissioners in helping to provide assistance.”
