Numbers shared on Friday by the Ohio Department of Health suggest that Richland Countians, as well as other residents of north central Ohio, have somewhat lower rates of participation than elsewhere in the state in terms of COVID-19 vaccination.

Across Ohio, 2,730,835 people — or 23.36% of the population — have taken at least one shot of an authorized vaccine; 1,565.614 people have completed that process (one or two shots depending on the vaccine). That represents 13.39% of Ohioans.

A small portion of those represent shot takers whose residency was not reported or who are residents of other states.

Currently, over 83,000 people join in that first set of numbers each day.

Richland Countians are taking the vaccination route at a pace comparable to its surrounding counties.

As of Friday, 24,606 residents (20.31%) here have taken at least one shot. Some 14,236 of those have completed the process. That means that 11.75% are fully vaccinated.

Surrounding counties had the following percentages of completed vaccinations — Ashland 7.76%, Crawford 14.69%, Huron 10.86%, Morrow 12.19%, Knox 11.65% .
