On Monday, Mansfield joined those communities across Ohio that have chosen to open their pool in light of COVID-19-related guidelines issued from the State of Ohio.

During their meeting on Tuesday evening, City Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee heard from Parks and Recreation Manager Mark Abrams on how the operation at Liberty Park is running so far.

The pool us abiding by social distancing guidelines through the creation of 28 “pods,” areas marked on the lawn that can be occupied by one to ten people and which are six feet away from other pods. The YMCA has been monitoring this operation, which has not had any issues to date.

The pool is open from noon to 6 PM, seven days a week weather permitting. The charge is $2 for adults, $1 for children aged four to fourteen, and free for children aged three and younger.

The locker rooms are closed and no changing area is available. Guests need to “be ready to swim” when they arrive, Abrams added.

More than one Council member thanked Abrams for the decision to open the pool.
