It you’re like us, you have been doing what you can to support local business in as many ways as possible.
For many, that has included ordering food from any one of Richland County’s main superb eateries, or drinks from your favorite pub or tavern, and then going by to pick it up or enjoy curbside service.
Now that same concept has been extended to obtaining something great to read while you’re enjoying that wine or hamburger. Main Street Books, downtown Mansfield’s independent bookstore, is giving it a try.
Llalan Fowler, Manager of Main Street Books, shared how it will work with 1812Blockhouse:
“Wednesday to Friday from 12 PM to 4 PM, people can call us at 419.522.2665 to order books, or they can message us on Facebook. We’ll call them when the books are in and they can pay over the phone. Then we’ll bring the books to them or meet them at the door with the bag.” The new service is a trial one, so be sure to follow the store on social media for continuing information.
We have two respectfully shared book recommendations for you which you can obtain from Main Street Books.
The first is Stephen Heyman’s wonderful new biography of Louis Bromfield, “The Planter of Modern Life: Louis Bromfield and the Seeds of a Food Revolution.” You can read more about this work in our recently-published post.
Another great and timely read is “A Gentleman in Moscow,” a work by Amor Towles. The book centers on the life of a former member of Russian aristocracy who is sentenced to permanent quarantine in a luxury Moscow hotel. The parallels to today can be striking.
