There’s going to be plenty of time this decade to make word plays out of the Roaring 20s (referencing the decade that began 100 years ago), but there’s no reason not to start now. The Richland Young Professionals and the Humane Society of Richland County have partnered in a 1920s-themed fundraising event that will be held at the Ohio State Reformatory.

Back in 1920’s, Prohibition was in full effect and impacted the lives Americans in ways that we would have difficulty imaging today. Prohibition, the nationwide constitutional ban on the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages, lasted from 1920 to 1933; it led to the speakeasy culture that we now identify with the Roaring 20s. Playing off this theme, the “Pawhibition” fundraiser will feature high roller casino games, a live auction, music, and cameos from furry friends. 1920s-themed dress is encouraged.

The event will be held on Friday, February 21, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. Funds raised will support the Humane Society of Richland County. General admission tickets are $50 per person (or $80 for a couple); however, sponsorships are also accepted for levels up to $1,000. Tickets or sponsorships can be purchased here.
