Some of the most famous villains of storybooks and nursery rhymes will prowl the halls of Sherman Elementary School from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday during the school’s Literacy Spooktacular.
“Staff will be in costumes for this literacy-based activity and rooms will be open,” said Principal Michael Wallace. “Students will receive treat bags and free books. We want to invite all of our families. This will be a great opportunity for them to meet teachers and see all that is happening at Sherman.”
Wallace said Robin Burkhardt, who manages the library/media room, has planned the Halloween night event. “Each grade level has selected a story to act out,” Burkhardt said. “A wizard will tell visitors what’s going on. We’ll have a walk-through maze and a lighted pumpkin patch. Students have created a spooky forest.”
Among the stories to be portrayed, Burkhardt said, are “The Wizard of Oz,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Peter Pan” and “101 Dalmatians.”
Visitors will come face to face with story villains. They will be challenged to identify which is Principal Wallace.
