April 1st is Kingwood Center Garden’s opening day. It’s also the opening of the 2019 featured exhibit “Paper Gardens” by artist, Lea Gray, of PaperBlooms Design.
The exhibit is located in Kingwood Hall and will be open for viewing from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Paper Gardens will be presented through August 31st with thanks to our sponsor, Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center.
According to her website, Lea Gray resides in Columbus and studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design. After discovering origami, she began to create intricate designs emulating plants, flowers, and trees. She teaches numerous workshops and classes in the area. Her “Paper Gardens” at Kingwood is described as “…an immersive experience of paper gardens combining flowers, plants, and succulents of all varieties.”
Visiting Kingwood this season will be a mix of the familiar and not-so-familiar. First, what’s different — with the new construction of the Garden Gateway Visitor’s Center, the Trimble Road entrance and parking lot will be temporarily closed for the 2019 season. As a result, patrons are asked to use the Park Avenue West entrance and parking lot for admission. There will be additional parking available on Linden Avenue, as well as a second entrance at the Linden Avenue gate.
The hours and admission will be the same as last year; Kingwood Center is open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admissions is $5/person. Children 12 and under are free.
