The Renaissance Performing Arts Association’s new performance space, Theatre 166, will present its second production in the MT Business Technologies Black Box Series, Sunday in the Park with George, on January 18 & 19 at 8:00 PM, and January 20 at 2:30 PM.  The Set & Design is sponsored by Adena Corporation.

Directed by Michael Thomas, this Pulitzer Prize awarding winning musical tells the story of enigmatic painter, Georges Seurat and is based on his masterpiece painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.  One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, Sunday in the Park with George is based on the book by Mansfield’s own James Lapine, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Staged in the Renaissance’s new Theatre 166 black box space, it will appeal not only to lovers of serious classic theatre, but also to anyone craving alternatives to the normal popular offerings. Merging the past and present into beautiful, poignant truths about life, love, and the creation of art, Sunday in the Park with George is a classic not to be missed.

Zack Pytel (pictured above) leads the cast as “George” with Maddie Beer as “Dot”.  Other cast members include, Stephanie Hayslip, Colton Penwell, Ryan Shreve, Lori Turner, and Mary Frankenfield.

Tickets are $20 and are on sale now at the Renaissance Box Office, via phone at (419) 522-2726, and online at MansfieldTickets.com.
