Among the items on the agenda for this Wednesday’s meeting of the Madison Local Schools Board of Education is one looking at bringing a leadership and like skills training experience to Madison South Elementary School.

According to its website, the “Leader in Me” initiative is national program to teach “…21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.” The movement claims to provide a total school trans formative model and process. Each school implementing Leader in Me adapts the program for its own school culture and climate.

At Madison, the Superintendent is recommending that the school participate in Leader in Me for the 2016-2017 school year with an estimated cost of $45,294.38. If approved, funding for its implementation would come from Title I, building professional development funds, and parent organizations. The program contact would be Mrs. Chris Scholl, Principal at the school.
