Renaissance Offers New REN-spiration Classroom Sessions, Writing Prompts

The Renaissance Theatre will offer a new series of REN-Spiration Classroom sessions beginning the week of October 4th.

The free series will feature classes that are formatted as a four-week series of offerings, with participants meeting once a week for four weeks. Class sessions are scheduled during times that allow families the opportunity to explore the arts while accommodating other fall activities. The REN-spiration Classroom provides a variety of educational theatre activities designed with creativity in mind. The series, coordinated by Renaissance Resident Teaching Artist Dauphne Maloney, expanded its offerings to the community in a series of live “classes,” originally in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based upon the popularity of its first series of online classes, the Ren’s Education Department continued with new series of classes for the summer, and into the fall. More…

OSUM Changes The Game With The Math Literacy Initiative

When 22-year-old Natalie Sayre of Crestline decided to purse a degree in Early Childhood Education at The Ohio State University at Mansfield, she knew she wanted to help change and mold young lives. However, she had no idea that she would learn a new way of teaching math that is part of an effort to change the way local students are learning and open up endless possibilities for their futures.

“In class at Ohio State Mansfield, as I was learning this different approach on how to teach math to young kids, I thought ‘Why didn’t I know this as a kid?’ When I was a kid I was never good at math,” said Sayre. “This approach would have helped me.” More…
