The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its second official weekly football computer ratings Tuesday. The computer ratings are released every Tuesday leading up to the final report on Sunday, Oct. 23, when 448 schools – the top 16 in each region – will qualify for the playoffs.
There are 711 schools in this week’s 11-player football computer ratings. The 72 largest schools are in Division I, while the remaining schools are divided equally in Divisions II through VII (approximately 106 schools in each division).
The top 20 schools in each region are listed below by division and region with record and average points. The football page at OHSAA.org includes an explanation of how the ratings are calculated.
The top 16 teams in each region in the final report will qualify for the playoffs.
As expected, there were changes in the position for local teams after the latest ratings were announced. Richland County teams were ranked as follows:
Clear Fork – #5 in Division IV, Region 14 between Van Wert and Elyria Catholic (up from #6)
Crestview – #2 in Division VI, Region 22 between Carey and Columbia Station Columbia (up from #3)
Lexington – #16 in Division III, Region 10 between Parma Padua Franciscan and Cleveland Lincoln West (down from #12)
Lucas – #9 in Division VI, Region 25 between Jeromesville Hillsdale and Greenwich South Central (down from #7)
Madison – Not ranked
Mansfield Senior – #4 in Division III, Region 10 between Lodi Cloverleaf and Clyde (up from #6)
Ontario – #13 in Division III, Region 10 between Parma Heights Holy Name and Rocky River (down from #10)
Plymouth-Shiloh – #18 in Division VII, Region 25 right between Windham and East Canton (up from #20)
Shelby – #12 in Division IV, Region 14 between Wauseon and Buckeye Valley (down from #9)
