Charles Mill Lake will offer a different way to experience summer evenings this year, with a series of guided kayak tours that take paddlers onto the water after the sun begins to fade.

The tours invite participants to explore the lake by moonlight, with three themed outings scheduled across the summer. Each tour is designed as an easy to moderate paddling experience, making it accessible for newer kayakers while still offering something memorable for those already comfortable on the water.

Three Nights On The Water

The summer series begins June 3 with a Moonlight Kayak Tour, giving participants the chance to paddle Charles Mill Lake under the light of the full moon.

On July 9, the lake will take on a brighter look during the Glow Kayak Tour, an evening outing built around light, reflection, and the atmosphere of a summer night on the water.

The final tour is set for August 11, when paddlers will take part in a Meteor Shower Kayak Tour. That outing is timed to add a little skywatching to the experience, with the lake serving as a quiet viewing spot away from the everyday rush.

Equipment Provided, Or Bring Your Own

Participants may bring their own kayak equipment or borrow what is provided. The registration fee includes a boat, paddle, life jacket, and light, along with instruction and the gate fee. Boat capacity limits apply. Organizers note that participants should be prepared to get wet, since kayaking is part of the experience. Waivers are required for all participants.

The tours are open to those ages 12 and older. Participants should meet at the beach.

Registration Required

The cost is $30 per participant. Pre-registration is required through TicketLeap. Tickets are available at:
