Tomorrow marks another Free First Monday at Kingwood Center Gardens, an opportunity for everyone to experience the beauty and tranquility of one of Mansfield’s most cherished spots without any admission fee. Whether you’re a regular visitor or a first-timer, this event offers a perfect chance to explore the stunning gardens, greenhouse, and more.

A Day of Exploration and Enjoyment

Stroll Through the Gardens

Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through Kingwood’s beautifully maintained gardens. The Display Greenhouse is a highlight, showcasing an array of exotic plants that bloom year-round. It’s a botanical wonderland where every corner reveals something new and captivating.

Savor and Shop

After your walk, stop by the Gateway Café for a delicious meal or snack. The café offers a variety of options, perfect for refueling after a day of exploration. Don’t miss the Garden & Gift Shop, where you can purchase unique plants, garden décor, and gifts. It’s a great place to find something special to remember your visit.

Volunteer Opportunities

From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Kingwood will host a Volunteer Orientation in the King Ballroom. This session is ideal for those interested in joining the volunteer program, whether you’re new or returning. It’s also a great chance for long-time volunteers to reconnect and learn more about the current opportunities. This informative meet and greet is designed to answer questions, provide insights into various volunteer roles, and foster a sense of community among volunteers.

Educational Programs

From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Kingwood offers an Educational Drop-In Program. This session provides an enriching experience for attendees of all ages, offering insights into the garden’s flora and fauna, as well as Kingwood’s history and ongoing conservation efforts. It’s a wonderful way to enhance your visit with a deeper understanding of the garden’s natural wonders.

Celebrate with Daylilies

In celebration of Kingwood’s 70th anniversary, the Garden & Gift Shop is offering a limited-time sale of Charles Applegate’s daylilies. Applegate, a Senior Gardener who dedicated 48 years to Kingwood, is renowned for his horticultural expertise. He hybridized and registered 45 daylily cultivars, many of which are still grown at Kingwood today. This sale is a rare opportunity to take home a piece of Kingwood’s history and enjoy the beauty of Applegate’s creations in your own garden.

Don’t miss this chance to enjoy everything Kingwood has to offer for free on the first Monday of each month.
