Shelby’s newly appointed Superintendent, Michael Browning, is inviting the community to an informal yet insightful session titled “Mornings with Michael.” This initiative marks the beginning of a series of coffee chats designed to foster open dialogue and connect on a personal level with residents and stakeholders. Scheduled for February 17 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the cozy and welcoming Blackfork Commons/The Well Coffee Shop, this event promises to be more than just a morning coffee run.

By stepping out of the conventional office setting and into the relaxed ambiance of a local coffee shop, Superintendent Browning aims to make himself more accessible to the people he serves. This inaugural session is not just about enjoying a cup of coffee but about building relationships, understanding community concerns, and discussing the future of education in Shelby.

Michael Browning’s path to the superintendency is a testament to his dedication to education and continuous personal and professional development. A 2001 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in History, Browning’s career in education began with substitute teaching, sparking a passion that led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix, graduating in 2004.

His journey through the educational ranks is marked by diverse experiences, from teaching fourth-grade as an Intervention Specialist to engaging high school students in Social Studies, and later, inspiring eighth graders with History. Not content with stopping there, Browning furthered his expertise by obtaining another Master’s degree in School Administration from Ohio University in 2014. His administrative acumen was honed through roles at London High School, culminating in his appointment as Superintendent of Shelby in July 2023.

The “Mornings with Michael” session is anticipated to be an interactive and enriching experience for all attendees. Participants can look forward to a candid discussion about Shelby’s educational landscape, Browning’s vision for the future, and how the community can play an integral role in shaping the path forward. It’s an opportunity for direct engagement with one of the key figures in local education, in an environment that encourages open communication and collaborative problem-solving.
