As the weather turns warmer in the coming weeks, why not head to a beautiful corner of Richland County for some exercise and quality “outdoor time.”

The Clear Fork Scenic Trail was born out of a visit to connect the Butler and the B&O Bike Trail with Mohican State Park and Malabar Farm State Park.

The eight mile route includes prairie lands and elevated views of the Clear Fork Valley, old growth forest stands, sandstone outcroppings, ponds and rivers, and a spring-fed waterfall. The northern trail head is near the ghost town of Newville where SR 95 crosses Possum Run Road, while its southern counterpart is at the Clear Fork Adventure Resort. The trail meanders through over 600 acres of nature preserves.

Recorded flora observations along the trail can be found on the iNaturalist website .

The Clear Fork Scenic Trail was developed and is maintained by the North Central Ohio Land Conservancy, which manages over 1,700 acres.

An informational brochure and trail map can be found here.

In the meantime, you can take a two minute virtual trek on the trail via YouTube here.
