An upcoming meeting to which you are invited seeks to bring the goals of “tactical urbanism” to this part of Ohio.

The community meeting will be held on October 11 at 3:00 PM at Richland Public Health, 555 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield. The meeting will be in the Corley Room, accessed from the rear of the building.

Come and learn about exciting plans to implement a short-term event using tactical urbanism approaches. According to event sponsors, “There are many areas of Mansfield and Richland County ready to become more walkable, bikeable, and social spaces. At this meeting we will explain how this event could pilot those changes. We will discuss the steps needed to bring an event to realization in 2018.”

The expressed goals of this tactical urbanism project are to:

  • Implement and assess complete street approaches to make roads or intersections more bike and pedestrian friendly.
  • Create social spaces drawing residents to the area for music, art, shopping, food, and recreation.
  • Create temporary uses of vacant space to re-imagine and encourage their permanent use.
