In an imaginative journey that revives the adventurous essence of the American frontier, Ohio State University at Mansfield is set to present “The Trail to Oregon!” This unique musical, originally brought to life by StarKid Productions, offers an engaging and interactive experience that promises to captivate audiences with its blend of historical adventure and modern theatrical flair.

A Journey Through Time and Imagination

“The Trail to Oregon!” is not your ordinary musical. Inspired by the iconic ‘90s video game “The Oregon Trail,” this production invites the audience into the world of a quintessential All-American family navigating the perilous journey from Missouri to Oregon in 1848. With obstacles such as starvation, bandits, snakebites, and the notorious dysentery, the family’s fate is as uncertain as it is exciting.

What sets this musical apart is its interactive nature. Audience participation takes center stage as attendees are given the power to name the family members and decide the ending of the play. This level of engagement, combined with a healthy dose of improvisation, ensures that each performance is a unique experience.

Musical Craftsmanship and Creative Collaboration

The musical brilliance of Jeff Blim, combined with the creative minds of Nick Lang, Matt Lang, Brian Holden, and Jeff Blim, has given birth to a production that is as entertaining as it is innovative. Arranged by Clark Baxtresser and Pierce Siebers, the show’s music captures the essence of the era while appealing to contemporary tastes.

Presented through special arrangement with Jeff Blim and Team Starkid, “The Trail to Oregon!” showcases the collaborative spirit that underpins modern theatrical productions. This partnership highlights the importance of creative synergy in bringing unique stories to the stage.
