In a bid to ensure smoother drives and safer roads, certain stretches in north central Ohio are temporarily closing down for necessary maintenance and reconstruction. Here’s a guide to current and upcoming road closures as announced by the Richland County Engineers Office.

Immediate Resurfacing on Hummel Road

Residents and commuters might face a short-term inconvenience as Hummel Road, sandwiched between St Rt 61 and the Shelby Corporation Limit in Sharon Township, is closing down for a resurfacing project. The closure kicked off at 5:00 PM on Thursday, and will stretch until the afternoon of Saturday, September 30, weather permitting. During this period, local, school, and emergency traffic will be maintained with the help of flaggers ensuring a steady flow and safety.

Richland County Engineers Office urges the public to plan their routes in advance to avoid any delays.

Bridge Overhauls Beckon Extended Closures

A more prolonged closure is on the horizon starting Monday, October 2, on Olivesburg-Fitchville Road, between Adario East Rd and Lattimer Rd in Butler Township. This 45-day closure, dependent on the weather, will facilitate a much-needed bridge replacement project, marking a stride towards robust infrastructure.

Similarly, Tucker Road, nestled between Hastings-Newville Road and Pleasant Valley Road in Monroe Township, remains closed owing to a bridge in disrepair. The good news is that a replacement project commenced on September 5, with an aim to reopen by December 5.

London West Road, spanning between St. Rt. 61 and Broadway Rd. in Plymouth Township, echoes a similar story. The closure, triggered by a bridge in a precarious state, is indefinite with no reopening date announced yet.

Noble Road: A Pathway on Pause

The deteriorating conditions of Noble Road have led to its closure between Olivesburg Fitchville and St Rt 13 in Butler Township. As of now, there are no plans set for reopening, reflecting a concerning pause in roadway usability. This stretch demands immediate attention to ensure the safety and convenience of its users.
