Mansfield police officers were busy Thursday night and Friday morning responding to two separate shooting incidents, both with victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Division of Police press releases detailing these incidents are shared below.

As noted, both are now under investigation.

Friday morning. The Mansfield Division of Police patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation of “shots fired” in the area of 426 Henry Street at 3:57 AM this morning. While enroute to that area, a caller advised that there was a male subject on his front porch on Massa avenue who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Once in the area, officers located the Black male victim, in his 20s, on a porch on Massa avenue. The victim, who was uncooperative and refused to identify himself, was transported to a local hospital by EMS personnel where he underwent emergency surgery and was left in the care of hospital staff. No further information on his condition is available at this time.

Officers, who continued to the area of the ShotSpotter activation on Henry Street, were advised by witnesses who had heard the gunshots that a female had run into 426 Henry Street shortly after the gunshots were heard. Officers secured the area around the residence and after considerable encouragement, a female exited the residence and was detained in reference to this incident.

Major Crims detectives responded to the scene and are in the process of executing a search warrant at the incident location. This is an active and fluid investigation and no additional details are available at this time. The area is safe at this time and this is believed to be an isolated incident,

We are asking that anyone who may have information in relation to this investigation to call Major Crimes at 419-755-9724.

Thursday evening. The Mansfield Division of Police responded to a 911 call for assistance in the area of Lexington Avenue and Ruth Avenue, Thursday evening, April 14 at approximately 6: 47 PM, in reference to an 18-year-old female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Once in the area, officers located the victim inside a blue Mazda sedan suffering from multiple bullet wounds and provided medical assistance until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she underwent surgery and was left in the care of hospital staff. No further information on her condition is available at this time.

The investigation is active and we are still in the process of determining what led up to the shooting. Preliminary indications are that there was some type of prior disagreement in the area of 374 Wood Street between the victim and occupants of the suspect vehicle, alleged to be involved in the incident. At some point, the victim and her friend attempted to leave the area in a blue Mazda 4-door sedan and were followed by others in a silver vehicle, who were also involved in the disagreement. The suspects in the silver suspect vehicle were described as a White mail with blond hair in a bun and a black female with a hair bun.

At some point during the incident, at least one individual in the silver vehicle shot at the Mazda in which the victim was a front seat passenger and she was struck by at least two bullets. The victim’s vehicle then stopped in the area of 370 Lexington avenue to call 911. Officers responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the victim until EMS staff arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. There is no further information on her condition at this time. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver SUV.

We are asking that anyone who may have seen the initial altercation and/or the shooting to please call Major Crimes at 419-755.9724.
