Agrace is a community-supported hospice and palliative care agency holding a volunteer open house on June 23 at the Richland Center Community Center, 1050 North Orange Street, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

“We’re looking for volunteers who would like to help make companionship visits and provide comforting complementary services to people in Richland County who are facing the challenges of serious illness,” said Laura Komjathy, Richland County volunteer coordinator for Agrace. “Volunteers play a key role in enhancing the care provided by Agrace’s professional staff.”

In addition to companionship visits, volunteers help Agrace provide “complementary” services, such as pet visits, Reiki and hand massage. They may also perform music or offer hair cutting/styling (licensed cosmetologists and cosmetology students).

Open house attendees can learn about the services Agrace provides and talk with current volunteers. Registration is not required, and there is no obligation to commit. Volunteer opportunities are available for people aged 16 and older.

Agrace has provided end-of-life care and related services to patients and their families throughout southern Wisconsin for nearly 40 years. For further details about the open house or volunteering with Agrace, call (608) 327-7163 or visit www.agrace.org/volunteer.
