Over the last month, election ads online and on TV and radio have been replaced with the sound of Christmas music and ads for the latest must-have gadget.
With 11 months until November, there’s no reason to think about Election Day 2021, is there?
At the Richland County Board of Elections, planning is already underway. In fact, deadlines for filings and submissions occur on a rather steady basis throughout the year.

This past week, the Board issued a set of reminders on social media related to some upcoming deadlines important on a local basis. They include:
- December 11 — Campaign Finance Deadline for Post-Election Reports
- January 29, 2021 — Campaign Finance Deadline for Annual Campaign Reports
- February 3, 2021 — Deadline for City of Mansfield and Ontario City candidates to file petitions for the May primary. This is also the deadline for all issues to be filed.
- February 18, 2021 — Deadline for Shelby City candidates to file petitions.
Elected officials and interested candidates in other locations are encouraged to check with the Board of Elections to verify
On Tuesday, the Board also shared a comment which it had received from the office of the Ohio Secretary of State:
Words of praise from Ohio Secretary of State’s office – “We had nothing but positive feedback to offer during our discussions of the Richland County Board of Elections. Thank you so much for your hard work and service to the voters of Richland County.”
