In a celebration of local entrepreneurship and community commitment, Friday’s Small Business of the Year Awards Ceremony honored eight remarkable local businesses in Richland County. These businesses, both for-profit and non-profit organizations, have not only achieved significant commercial success but also played a pivotal role in community development and philanthropy.

The ceremony brought together the best of Richland County’s small business sector together with Richland County Chamber & Economic Development.

A Showcase of Local Excellence and Dedication

At the heart of this year’s ceremony were the Small Business of the Year Award winners, a group of businesses that have demonstrated exceptional growth, innovation, and community involvement. The awards were divided into various categories, reflecting the broad spectrum of businesses that make up the county’s economic fabric.

For-Profit Category Winners

In the for-profit sector, Sluss Realty Co. emerged victorious in the 15+ Employee Category, showcasing their significant contribution to the local real estate market. Elzy Milling & Trade LTD, a business with 14 or fewer employees, also garnered recognition for their outstanding performance and dedication to excellence.

Non-Profit Sector Honors

The non-profit sector celebrated with Mansfield Playhouse winning in the Small Non-Profit category and JPB Professional Marketing taking home the Large Non-Profit Winner title. These organizations exemplify the spirit of community service and engagement, having made substantial contributions to the cultural and social fabric of Richland County.

Commendation for Finalists and Nominees

The ceremony also acknowledged the finalists in each category, highlighting their achievements and contributions to the local economy. In the 15+ Employee Category, Hamilton Insurance Group, Inc., and JPB Professional Marketing were honored, while Drs Heringhaus General Dentistry and Local Project Pro were recognized in the 14 & Under Employee Category. Their dedication and business acumen have significantly impacted the county’s economic landscape.

A Collective Effort for Community Growth

Overall, the combined efforts of these businesses have led to the creation of over 120 local jobs and generated more than $10 million in revenue. Beyond their economic impact, these businesses have also shown a strong commitment to charitable causes, further embedding themselves into the heart of the community.

The ceremony was made possible through the generous support of various sponsors. Special recognition was given to Medical Mutual, the presenting sponsor, and Mechanics Bank, the Finalist Video Sponsor. Their support underscores the collaborative spirit that characterizes Richland County’s business community.
