Mansfield’s Sister City in England, Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, boasts an English League Two soccer team, the Mansfield Town Football Club. Known traditionally as “The Stags” or “The Yellows,” the team has played at venerable Field Mill (now “One Call Stadium”) since 1910.
Currently the squad stands 9th in the standings for the 24 team league. Each team plays each of the other clubs twice (once at home, once away) and is awarded three points for a win, one for a draw and no points for a loss. It is from these points a league table is constructed.
At the end of each season the top three teams, together with the winner of the play-offs between the teams which finished in fourth–seventh position, are promoted to Football League One and are replaced by the four teams that finished bottom of that division.
Last season, Mansfield Town FC finished in 12th position, well out of playoff range.
Ticket prices, like those in American stadiums, depend on seat location and other factors. A decent ticket for today’s home match against Grimbsy Town FC would cost 18 pounds, or a bit over $23 at current exchange rates. More exclusive seating is available; a “hospitality suite” package consisting of the following perks would set you back 50 pounds (approximately $65), according to the Club’s website:

The latest news for Mansfield Town FC has come from activities other than its soccer play. Allegations have been levied against the Club suggesting sexism in the fact that its cheerleading squad, named after the stadium, are called the “One Call Girls.” Click here for coverage of the controversy from The Daily Mail.
