The arrival of a new music director for the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, and the first public performance of that ensemble under his baton, has not gone unnoticed around Ohio.

In fact, on Monday WOSU’s Music In Mid-Ohio published a profile on Director Octavio Mas-Arocas entitled, “Meet the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra’s Octavio Mas-Arocas.” According to the piece, WOSU’s classical announcer Christopher Purdy talked of a recent visit to Mansfield for Mid-Ohio Opera’s performance of La Boheme, and then talked about Mas-Arocas’ new engagement with the MSO.

Included in the article are a nine minute audio interview and a five minute video of Mas-Arocas conducting Respighi’s Pines of Rome. Speaking of Pines of Rome, if you haven’t heard that work, the last few minutes provide some of classical music’s grandest moments.
