As this week begins, health experts are looking closely at COVID-19 case numbers to determine the impact of the Thanksgiving holiday on the spread of the virus.

In that light, on Monday Richland Public Health included the following categories and numbers in its start-of-week report. The statistics are sobering and key numbers have reached record levels.

The number of cumulative cases now represents approximately 3.7% of all county residents.

For Richland County:

  • Confirmed Cases — 4083
  • Probable Cases — 544
  • Total Cases — 4627
  • Cases With Recoveries — 2283
  • Hospitalizations — 313
  • Current hospitalizations — 87
  • ICU Admissions — 62
  • Deaths — 43
  • Age Range — 1 month to 100 years with a median age of 44

The reported case numbers suggest that there are currently 2,301 active cases of COVID-19 among Richland Countians. In mid-July, that number stood at 133.

Across Ohio, numbers currently stand as follows:

  • Confirmed Cases — 458993
  • Probable Cases — 25304
  • Total Cases — 484297
  • Cases With Recoveries — 321505
  • Hospitalizations —29569
  • ICU Admissions —4943
  • Deaths — 7022
  • Age Range — Less than one to 109 with a median age of 42

The next scheduled local update is set for this Friday.

During his Monday briefing, Governor DeWine indicated that the current curfew will be extended past its Thursday end date. DeWine did not discuss any more possible restrictions despite stating over the weekend that more action is needed to stem the current rampant spread.
