This past Thursday, the Ohio Department of Health reported that 596 new cases of COVID-19 were found in Ohio schools since the last update on October 1.

Those new numbers include those from three Richland County school districts.

Across Ohio, Olentangy Local Schools in Delaware County has had the highest number of cumulative cases — 62, including 49 students and 13 staff. Across the state there have been 1,870 cumulative cases in school settings.

Richland County schools have had a total of 11 confirmed COVID-19 cases. This week, new cases were reported at: Clear Fork (1 staff), Lexington (1 staff), and Madison (1 student and 1 staff).

According to the Department of Health, “A report of COVID-19 should not be interpreted as an indicator that a school district or school isn’t following proper procedures—school cases can be a reflection of the overall situation in the broader community. Families and staff should always feel free to ask questions of the school district or school.”
