Those anticipating the release of details on Governor Mike DeWine’s phased plan to “reopen Ohio” are going to have a bit longer.

At Thursday’s regular press conference, the Governor stated that details of the plan will be shared during on Monday, April 27.

The plan is expected to include specific ways in which any businesses which will be allowed to re-open to protect not only the public, but also their own employees. This could involve additional requirements that have not been previously implemented under the stay-at-home order, standards that could be interpreted as “strict,” Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted stated.

Husted emphasized that opening will be voluntary when it does take place. “Nobody will require anybody to open,” he said. “We’re saying these are the standards you must meet to open.”

The Governor noted that to rebuild the economy, people have to feel safe in engaging with open businesses. “As we move to open up more of Ohio,” DeWine said, “we want to do it in a careful way. We want to do it in a way that engenders confidence in people.”

The Ohio Department of Health’s regular update on COVID-19 statistics, released just prior to the event, revealed that there are 14,142 confirmed and 552 probable cases, with 2,960 hospitalizations, 618 deaths, and 38 deaths linked to probable cases.
