The new year is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to try a new experience or just get out of the house for some winter fun. The folks at Destination Mansfield – Richland County have rounded up their list of the best ways to spend your day come January:

Wrap up the Christmas season with the final days of Christmas at Kingwood (January 2-5) at Kingwood Center Gardens. This is your last chance to see Kingwood Hall decked for the holidays or walk the Trail of Lights until next Christmas.

See all that Downtown Mansfield has to offer and explore the city during the First Friday Shop Hop (January 3). Businesses will often stay open late and offer live entertainment, unique events, or special offers during the Shop Hop.

Hit the slopes! Snow Trails is officially holding its normal hours during the week for skiing and snowboarding. They will offer extended hours on Peak Days (December 23 – January 5) so you have more time to make memories while family is in town. Spend your 4-day weekend on the slopes with MLK Extended Hours (January 17-20) and don’t miss the Mid-Season Party (January 25) with an outdoor DJ, fireworks, and more.

Performance Season is here! Catch a production at the Renaissance Performing Arts Center or The Mansfield Playhouse. Country artist and songwriter, Phil Vassar (January 11) and some amazing shelter dogs turned 4-legged performers in Mutts Gone Nuts (January 19) take to the stage at the Renaissance Theatre. An original musical production, An Evening with Etta James starring Condrea Webber (January 17-18, 24-25) tells the tumultuous life story of the legendary singer at Theatre 166. The Mansfield Playhouse brings you Dearly Departed (January 17- 18, 24-26), a comic gem of a play about the far-from-boring realities of life and death in the South.

Get the kids out of the house! Stop in for Storytime for Kids (January 18) at Main Street Books. The Ohio Bird Sanctuary hosts Avian Encounters every Saturday in January (4, 11, 18, 25). Your kids will love Music & Movement every Friday and Art Class every Thursday at Little Buckeye Children’s Museum.
