Families looking ahead to summer now have another option for keeping kids active, engaged, and connected with their community.

The City of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for its Mansfield City Parks Play Series, a summer program designed for children ages 8 to 13. The series will run from June 8 through August 7, offering regular afternoon activities at three city parks.

The program is built around a simple summer idea: give kids a place to gather, move, create, learn, and have fun outdoors while school is out.

Three Parks, Three Days A Week

The Play Series will rotate through Mansfield parks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Sessions will be held Mondays at Johns Park from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Wednesdays at North Lake Park from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and Fridays at Burton Park from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Lunch and snacks will be provided, helping make the program easier for families and giving participants a built-in break during the afternoon.

From STEM To Water Week

Each week will feature a different theme, giving children a variety of activities across the summer. Planned themes include STEM Week, Art Week, Olympic Games Week, Water Week, Sports Week/World Cup, Animal Week, Red, White, and Blue, Nature Week, and Final Fun Week.

The mix points to a program that blends recreation with creativity and discovery, from hands-on learning and art projects to outdoor play and sports-themed activities.
