🌉 Stewart Road bridge work pushed into 2027

Published Wednesday: Madison Township officials say the Stewart Road bridge project will not be completed until next year. Township trustees were told ODOT expects to finish the work during summer or early fall 2027.

Officials said the bridge’s west beam has pulled away slightly, but ODOT does not consider the condition an immediate problem. Barrels will be moved closer to the damaged area and new pavement markings will be added. Read Wednesday’s Richland Source report.

🚧 U.S. 42 closes north of Lexington

Earlier ODOT notice, taking effect today: U.S. Route 42 will close between Cedarwood Drive and Gables Boulevard for a culvert replacement.

The posted detour uses U.S. 42, State Route 314 and State Route 97. The project is expected to continue through Friday, October 2. See the regional ODOT construction report.

🚲 Shelby prepares to open its historic engine house

Tuesday carryover: The Shelby Cycle Historical Society will open the city’s 1872 engine house from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday as part of Ohio Open Doors.

The building is being developed as the future Steel & Wheel Museum, focusing on Shelby’s bicycle, seamless-tube and industrial history. A heritage bicycle ride celebrating the society’s 10th anniversary will begin at 5:30 PM. Read the Richland Source preview.

🎭 Area students bring “Newsies JR.” to the stage

Earlier Mansfield News Journal preview, happening this weekend: More than 50 students from schools across Richland County and the surrounding area will perform at the Renaissance Theatre.

Public performances begin at 7:00 PM Friday and Saturday, followed by a 2:30 PM Sunday matinee. A free sensory-friendly performance is scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, although advance registration is required. Read the Mansfield News Journal preview.

✨ Mohican Lodge plans synchronized drone show

Tuesday carryover: Mohican State Park Lodge will join eight other Ohio lodges Saturday for “Remember, Lights in the Sky,” a synchronized drone show honoring America’s 250th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of September 11.

The show begins at 9:00 PM. The lodge will also offer activities during the day, many of them free and open to the public. See the Mohican Lodge event information.

🏙️ Mansfield development board meets today

The Mansfield Community Improvement Corporation board will meet from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM today. The organization works with the city on economic-development projects, property activity and business investment.
