🚧 Main Street project remains on schedule

Mansfield’s $20.3 million Main Street Corridor Improvement Project remains on track for completion by the end of October.

Crews are finishing plaza work and improvements near First and Main streets. Decorative arches are expected later this month, followed by repaving and restriping in October. The project will eventually convert Main Street to two-way traffic between First and Sixth streets. Intermittent closures will continue while construction is underway. 🛍️ Downtown shops stay open late tonight

Downtown Mansfield’s First Friday Shop Hop runs from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM today. Participating businesses will offer extended hours, activities, refreshments and special promotions.

🚔 Holiday traffic enforcement begins

Thursday carryover, taking effect today: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is increasing enforcement through 11:59 PM Monday, with particular attention to impaired driving, seat-belt use and distracted driving.

The patrol reported 27 deaths in 23 crashes during Ohio’s 2025 Labor Day reporting period. Drivers can report dangerous or suspected impaired driving by calling #677. Read the holiday safety notice.

🏈 Week 3 football kicks off tonight

Richland County’s high-school football schedule includes Lexington at Clear Fork, Watkins Memorial at Mansfield Senior, Ontario at Tiffin Columbian, Norwalk at Madison and Carey at Lucas. Shelby hosts Bellevue, while Plymouth travels to Wellington and Crestview visits Independence.

🚜 Road resurfacing reaches final scheduled routes

Earlier notice, happening today: Richland County’s chip-and-seal schedule calls for work on Springmill West and Horning roads.

🌱 Mansfield hospital receives sustainability honors

Thursday carryover: OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital has received the American Society for Health Care Engineering’s Sustainability Champions Award and Sustained Performance Award.

The honors recognize hospitals that reduce energy use and environmental impact through measures such as equipment scheduling, building-control improvements and more efficient heating and cooling systems. See WMFD’s announcement and the national award recipients.
