Spring has arrived at Kingwood Center Gardens, and with it comes one of the season’s most anticipated traditions: the annual Spring Plant Market.
This year’s market will offer a broad selection of plants and garden goods, with nearly everything propagated or grown at Kingwood. For gardeners, that means a chance to bring home plants with a direct connection to one of Mansfield’s best-known public gardens.
Kingwood members will have the first opportunity to shop during a special Member Preview on Thursday, April 30, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM inside the King Ballroom. Members are asked to bring either their membership card or a photo ID.
The Spring Plant Market opens to the public Friday, May 1, and continues through Sunday, May 3. Hours are 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM each day. There is no admission fee to visit Kingwood’s Garden & Gift Shop during the event. Garden admission is only required for those planning to visit the gardens themselves.
That makes the market an easy seasonal stop for plant lovers, casual browsers, and anyone looking for inspiration as outdoor spaces begin to come back to life.
Shoppers will find a wide range of options, including herbs, vegetables, heirloom varieties, fruits, annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, hanging baskets, garden goods, and more. Whether visitors are starting a garden from scratch, refreshing containers, adding color to a porch, or expanding an established landscape, the market is designed to offer something for nearly every kind of garden space.
The Spring Plant Market also begins a busy month at Kingwood Center Gardens. Upcoming May programs include Free First Monday on May 4, the Mansfield Men’s Garden Club Speaker Series on May 5, Blooms-to-Give and a Children’s Flower Arrangement Workshop on May 9, Painting with Parsons on May 12, Kingwood Hall tours on May 16, the Glass in Flight 2 Meet the Artist Event on May 22, the opening of the Glass in Flight 2 exhibit on May 23, and a Grounds and Gardens Tour on May 28.
For gardeners and Kingwood visitors alike, May begins with plants, color, and plenty of reasons to return.
