Welcome to the ODOT Road Project Reports for 2026.

With the weather improving slowly but surely, crews are already back at work doing important updates on area roadways. As in years past, we will be providing weekly updates for projects in Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties.

The following is scheduled to take place during this coming week.

Mohican State Park bridge repairs

The covered bridge in Mohican State Park, over the Clear Fork Mohican River, will close Wednesday, April 1 for bridge repairs. Motorists will be detoured to SR 97 west to McCurdy Road north to Goon Rd/County Road 3006 east to County Road 939 into the Mohican State Park and reverse. Estimated completion: April 30, 2026

U.S. Route 30 bridge replacement

U.S. 30 at the east and west bridges over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, just west of SR 98, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for a bridge replacement project. Estimated completion: August 2027

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Crews continue median crossover construction and shoulder reconstruction work for the bridge replacement project.
  • One 11’ lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained with barrels.

UPCOMING IMPACTS

  • The SR 98 entrance ramp to U.S. 30 westbound will close Monday, April 6, 2026, for two days for underdrain work. The detour will be to take SR 98 south to SR 4 north to U.S. 30 west. Estimated completion: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
  • The SR 4 entrance ramp to U.S. 30 eastbound will close Monday, April 6, 2026, for ten days for shoulder reconstruction. The detour will be to take SR 4 south to SR 98 north to U.S. 30 east. Estimated completion: Wednesday, April 15, 2026
  • The SR 98 entrance ramp to U.S. 30 westbound will close Thursday, April 16, 2026, for four days for shoulder reconstruction. The detour will be to take SR 98 south to SR 4 north to U.S. 30 west. Estimated completion: Sunday, April 19, 2026
  • The SR 4 entrance ramp to U.S. 30 eastbound will close Monday, May 11, 2026, for 188 days for the reconstruction of the eastbound side of the U.S. 30 bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The detour will be to take SR 4 south to SR 98 north to U.S. 30 east. Estimated completion: Sunday, November 15, 2026

U.S. 42 minor rehabilitation

U.S. 42 (East Main Street) northbound and southbound in the village of Lexington, from SR 546 (Frederick Street) to Castor Road, will have daily lane closures for a roadway and intersection improvement project. The northbound and southbound driving lanes will be closed for sidewalk, signal, and roadway work. Traffic will be maintained with 12’ lanes in each direction with barrels. Project work includes adding bike lanes, reconfiguring intersection access, and various pedestrian improvements. Estimated completion: May 2026


State Route 13 resurfacing

SR 13 northbound and southbound, from Hanley Road to Chilton Ave, will have long-term lane closures for a resurfacing project. Estimated completion: May 2027

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • SR 13 southbound from Cook Road to Straub Road will be reduced to one lane of traffic for culvert repairs as part of the resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in a 12-ft lane using barrels.


State Route 96 (Main Street) railroad repairs

NEW IMPACTS – SR 96 in the city of Shelby, just west of Walnut Street, will close Tuesday, March 17 for railroad crossing repairs. The railroad company is completing the necessary maintenance work. The detour route will be SR 96 (Main Street) west to SR 61 (N Gamble Street) north to Whitney Ave west to Sharon Street south to SR 96 (Main Street) and reverse. Estimated completion: Tuesday, March 24, 2026
