As the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library continues work on its Creation Lab renovation, one thing is clear: the learning doesn’t stop.

In March, the library is offering two practical, beginner-friendly technology classes designed for adults and teens who want to create, explore, and better understand the tools shaping today’s world. Registration opens February 19, and participants are encouraged to sign up early.

Classes may be held at different locations during the Creation Lab construction project.

Cricut® Workshop

Wednesday, March 11
9:30 AM–11:00 AM
Main Library, Community Room

If you’ve ever admired a custom T-shirt, a neatly lettered water bottle, or a handmade card and wondered how it was made, this class is for you.

Participants will receive a beginner-friendly introduction to Cricut® Design Space, the software used to create digital designs that can be cut using a Cricut® machine. The workshop covers the fundamentals of building simple designs and preparing them for cutting.

Then comes the hands-on portion. Attendees will cut a vinyl decal and leave with a customized item of their own. It’s practical, creative, and approachable even for those who have never used design software before.

3D Printing Demo

Thursday, March 19
2:00 PM–3:00 PM
Ontario Branch

3D printing has moved from novelty to mainstream tool in just a few years. This session explains how it works and how you can use it.

The program begins with a short presentation outlining what 3D printing is, how additive manufacturing builds objects layer by layer, and the real-world applications driving its growth. Participants will then take an in-depth look at one of the library’s 3D printers to see the process in action.

The session concludes with a Q&A and information on how to access and use MRCPL’s 3D printers for personal projects.

How To Register

Registration opens February 19. Reserve your seat online at mrcpl.org or call 419.521.3146. Both classes are open to adults and teens.

For those who have been curious about the library’s tech offerings but unsure where to begin, March offers a low-pressure, hands-on entry point. Whether you want to make something you can hold in your hand or understand how something gets built from a digital file, these sessions offer a clear place to start.
