The holidays have flipped the switch at Kingwood Center Gardens, where the grounds come to life in a way they rarely do the rest of the year. The Gardens have opened their gates to an evening world of twinkling paths, warm lights drifting through the trees, and a mansion dressed the way a historic mansion should be dressed at Christmas.
Wonders to Expect
The Community Tree Walk is the first thing to catch your eye. More than a simple trail of evergreens, each tree is decorated by a local group and carries its own personality. It feels like walking through the creative spirit of Richland County one tree at a time.
Kingwood Hall itself leans fully into the season. All three floors carry their own look and mood, from classic arrangements to displays that push a little more imagination. Nothing feels overdone. It’s the kind of space where you want to slow down, especially if you’ve visited in other seasons and like seeing how the house changes.
When the cold settles in, the Display Greenhouse is the perfect counterpoint. The air is warm, the tropical plants form their own quiet backdrop, and the holiday décor adds something unexpected. It’s a good mid-visit reset before heading back out into the lights.
The Garden & Gift Shop and Gateway Café give visitors a place to pick up seasonal gifts or settle in with something warm. It makes the visit feel complete rather than rushed.
What You Need to Know
Timed-entry tickets are required, and Kingwood recommends securing a reservation ahead of time. A handful of walk-up tickets may be available, but they cost more and can’t be counted on during busy nights.
Hours run from November 29 through December 30, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The event is closed on December 5, 8, 15, Christmas Eve and Day, and New Year’s Eve and Day.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 7 to 18. Children 6 and under are free. Members get complimentary entry but still need to reserve a time slot.
A Seasonal Tradition Worth Returning To
Kingwood’s holiday season works because it blends familiar tradition with just enough change to feel fresh each year. If you want a night that slows the season down and gives you space to enjoy it, this is one of the best places in the region to do it.
