🏫 State to cover 96% of new Mansfield school
Mansfield City Schools is beginning plans for a new pre-K through fourth-grade building after receiving state approval for the project. The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission will cover 96% of construction costs, while the district expects to pay its 4% share internally without requesting a new construction levy. A site has not been selected, and architectural and groundbreaking schedules remain undecided. Superintendent Stan Jefferson said the building could open within four to five years.
🏞️ Prospect Park celebrates major upgrades
Mansfield officials cut the ribbon Tuesday on a new family-sized pavilion at Prospect Park. The project also includes a repaved half basketball court with new goals, a restriped parking lot and new fencing beside the baseball field. The city prioritized Prospect Park because it is close to several schools and serves a neighborhood with many young families. Youth flag football and T-ball programs are also planned for the park’s open field.
⚽ Ontario girls remain undefeated
The Ontario girls soccer team improved to 3-0 with a 2-0 victory over Madison on Tuesday night. The Warriors’ next scheduled match is against Medina at 7:00 PM Saturday. Madison fell to 1-3 and is scheduled to face New Philadelphia at 6:00 PM Thursday.
💵 Richland County property taxes due today
Second-half Richland County real estate and manufactured-home tax payments are due today. The county treasurer’s office at 50 Park Avenue East in Mansfield is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Online payment by credit card or eCheck is also available, although the county says a service fee applies.
🧭 Leadership lunch tackles workplace boundaries
A Richland Area Chamber Lunch & Learn runs from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM today at the Connection Space, 879 Park Avenue West. Leadership coach Joshua Cole will discuss practical boundaries intended to improve focus, clarify ownership and reduce workplace stress. Registration is $20, includes snacks and is designed for business owners, managers, supervisors and team leaders.
🧬 Revolutionary history meets family research
The American Revolution Experience traveling exhibit continues today at the Ohio Genealogical Society’s Samuel D. Isaly Library, 611 State Route 97 West near Bellville. The free exhibit uses illustrated panels, interactive kiosks, artifacts and primary accounts to explore how ordinary people experienced the Revolution. From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, local historian Sunda Peters will present “Climbing the Family Tree,” a free introduction to genealogical research.
